Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

The Department of Psychology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for the 9-month, tenure-track position of Assistant professor in Health Psychology beginning August 2018.

Primary duties include teaching a wide range of psychology courses, participating in establishing a Master’s degree program in Health Psychology, supervising theses and internships, directing graduate and undergraduate research, students advising, and providing service to the department, college and university. Potential for establishing a successful research program through the acquisition of extramural funds is expected.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The mission of the Psychology Department is to orient students to the various fields of human activities that require application of psychological knowledge. The Psychology Department is responsible for delivering the curriculum that will lead to a B.A. in Psychology, as well as providing support courses for General Education for non-majors. This is accomplished through appropriate course work, laboratory sessions, research projects, and empirical experiences. In addition, the program seeks to instill core values of commitment, integrity, and dedication in teaching, research, and community service. The Psychology Department is within the College of Health and Human Sciences. There are approximately 450 majors.

Minimum Requirements

This applicant must have a Ph.D. in Psychology by the anticipated date of appointment.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

The preferred candidate will have the post-doctoral experience and a demonstrated record of independent research and publishing.
